My Great Adventure

One block at a time
My daughter is moving back to her home town, she is grown and its time for me to live my adventure. I purchases this vintage motor home for one thousand dollars. I hired a "mobile mechanic" on craigs list to replace the water pump. He failed to tighten the bolts, and I over heated and had to turn back. The plan was: the kids loaded up all earthly processions that they wanted, load it into a uhaul and head home. I was going to follow in this rv. I was going to have friends back home get me road ready. I only had to make it 178 miles. I made it about 5 miles when I realized I was over heating. I turned back and parked at the walmart parking lot. The kids purchases me a prepaid phone, and wished me well and headed out. I spent the night at the walmart parking lot. The next morning the rv started and I headed to the house we were moving out of. I was going to call an estate buyer for what was left. The mobile machanic was paid to help load up what was left and take it to joyland. Joyland is one of those flea market places. Instead of that, he kept what he wanted and went home. He worked on the rv some more. We could not figure out why it was over heating. We flushed the system, put on a new radiator cap and thermostate. Still it was over heating. I tried driving it to his house a couple of days later. In the middle of 17th Street and Washburn, I was trying to keep it running. It would not idle down, and when I shifted it would die. I knew then, that the over heating had caused more damage. In between neutral and drive the ujoint snapped. I called progressive insurence, had a tow truck there in about 20 min. They towed me to the moblile machanic's house 6 blocks away. I wish I would have had the camera ready, and would have taken pics of the what was going on. A very tall, bald topeka officer helped push the rv out of the intersection. He was releaved to hear that I had full coverage and this was not going on the city's bill. The mobile machanic assured me that if I had it towed to his house he could fix what was wrong with it. Needless to say 6 weeks later I was still sitting waiting on him. I will be adding to this hub, stay tuned for my new adventures.
